Donna Bareis Amico Elected Board President

The Howard County Concert Odyssey is pleased to announce that Donna Bareis Amico has been elected President of the Odyssey’s Board of Directors. A member of the Board since April 2022, she succeeds Nancy Carol Mason, who served as Board President for many years, and who will continue serving on the Board as a Director.

Amico will lead the Odyssey with help from Vice President Ann Corbett, who also serves as Grants Officer, Secretary Katy Saulsbury, Treasurer Pam Kreis, and Directors Peggy Bagwell, James Cradler, Diane Lichtenberger, Nancy Mason, and Dessie Moxley.

Amico is an experienced executive and long-time lover and supporter of music and music education.  She embraced classical music as a child studying piano and was active behind the scenes for musical and theater performances while school through graduate school and beyond.  Amico and her husband of over 40 years met while working backstage with Rockville Musical Theatre, so it’s their shared love of music and the theater that brought them together.  The Amicos are long-term supporters of our local orchestras including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and OrchKids, the BSO’s music education program in Baltimore public schools.  Amico currently serves on the Development Committee of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Board of Directors.

Amico retired in 2018 from her position as chief operating officer of Social & Scientific Systems, Inc., a public health company headquartered in Silver Spring, MD.  Previous Board of Directors’ service includes the Maryland Tech Council (3 years on the Executive Committee and 2 years as Vice Chair for Strategy).  Amico’s hobbies include auto racing with the local Porsche club; she is a national official for the PCA (Porsche Club of America) club racing program, and race chair for the local region’s club race.  Amico holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Penn State, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Duke University.
