About Us

Mission

The Odyssey’s mission is to enhance and enrich the musical experiences of all citizens in the greater community through a broad selection of diverse music themes, artistic formats, and venues.

Approach

HCCO’s approach to concert planning is to provide Howard County and Central Maryland region with a range of music spanning the Baroque era up to the present, including the promotion and performance of new music by living composers. Through our partnerships with other arts organizations, we seek to provide a unique mix of music, dance, and theater.

History

2008

The Howard County Concert Odyssey was established in 2010 by St. John’s Episcopal Church, and was named the Orchestra of St. John’s. It performed three concerts at the Church each season.

2013

In 2012, the orchestra became an independent organization financially and administratively and was renamed the Howard County Concert Orchestra. It was incorporated and attained 501(c)(3) status with the IRS as a nonprofit cultural organization.

2019

The name of the orchestra was changed to the Howard County Concert Odyssey in 2019 to reflect a broader scope of music programming.
